Toddler Morning Out children are brought to the classroom by their parents and choose from the materials available in the classroom. At 9:30 they go outside, weather permitting, then return to the classroom for snack and more choice time. In addition to their daily routine, the children have music and movement weekly.
The children in the Toddler Program meet on the playground daily. At 9:30, they head to their classroom for circle time, choice time, snack, and more choice. They, too, have music and movement weekly.
The children in the 4 Day Program, the Red Room, participate in carpool. As they enter the classroom, the children make choices from a variety of carefully designed activities. They may engage alone or with one, two or a group of children as they experiment with and experience the materials set out for them. At some point during the morning they assemble as a group for circle. At 10:00 the children in the Red room head outdoors. Upon their return, they enjoy their snack as a group and once again have time to make choices in the classroom. On different days throughout the week, they will have music and movement.
The children in the 5 Day Program, in the Blue, Green and Yellow Rooms, also participate in carpool. Upon their arrival in their “home” classroom, they put away their belongings and have opening circle time. Once circle is over, the children are free to choose where they will begin work. Upon completion of each activity they choose, they clean their space, leaving it as they found it, and make another choice. By 9:45 the snack room opens and becomes one of their choices, and at 10:30 the playground is another, giving the children as many as five areas in which to work. At the end of the day, children reassemble in their assigned classrooms for a circle discussion to wrap up the day. On varying days of the week, the five day children have music, movement and Christian education classes.
