I have been the Director of St. Stephen’s Preschool since January 2001. Prior to that, I was the Director of Richmond Child Development Centers, the Ellwood House, which Betty Young and I started in 1982. I began a tutoring agency, Educational Associates, in 1976 and taught middle school science for seven years before that. I have a Bachelor of Arts from Randolph-Macon Women’s College.
I am a mother of two, John Cabell and Elizabeth, and a grandmother of Cabell and Lacey. My husband, Cabell, and I enjoy our children and grandchildren, our cottage on the Rappahannock river where friends and family gather, Camp Greenbrier for Boys where we spend summers, and traveling. With a lifelong interest in education and church, I have spent my volunteer time primarily with my church, St. Stephen’s Episcopal and with the Steward School and with St. Andrew’s School on whose board I have served.
Kay has recently joined the St. Stephen’s Preschool team although her three children ‘graduated’ from SSP.
She received her BS in Business Administration from The University of Tennessee, moved to Richmond with NCR Corporation and earned her MBA from University of Richmond in 1993. She has worked in tourism, industrial graphics and for the last nine years has owned a staging company.
She serves on the board at SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now), sings in the St. James’s Parish Choir and volunteers for several special organizations. She and her husband, William, have three teenagers.
