The New Year is off to a great start in the Thursday/Friday TMO classroom. We hope you all had a wonderful holiday. We would like to welcome Kaashvi Vyas to our classroom. She began with us just before Christmas and we are so happy to have her at St. Stephen’s.
During December, the children were very busy in the art center working on various Christmas activities. They decorated stockings with their choice of green and red paint and loved putting stickers on them. They also painted stars and their favorite part was shaking the glitter on their star. We used the dot dot markers to decorate Christmas trees and made a Rudolph with the children’s hands.
Painting big candy canes at the easel was also a favorite art activity. The children loved decorating the classroom Christmas tree, and it was a great, fun way to strengthen their small muscles.
January has started off with happy children who are eager to come to school. They have really enjoyed our music time with Dawn. She is bringing different instruments for us to play, and she even entertained us by her playing the flute. All the children were so attentive as she played.
They also had so much fun scooping and pouring at the sand table. We continue to reinforce concepts such as more than, less than, full, empty etc. as they are playing with the sand.
Whenever we can we go outside to use allow the children to use their large muscles. When the weather is not so great, we use the movement room where the children can enjoy riding toys, a slide, balls and running.
As always, thank you for sharing your children with us.
