There was a lot of Christmas excitement this week, including a visit from that sneaky Gingerbread Man. The children each made a Gingerbread Man. Unfortunately, he escaped and ran all over St Stephen’s. Eventually they found him and enjoyed eating him. Yum!!!
This week we made gingerbread cookies and the children had a hand in every step along the way. We began the week by grating ginger, then mixed the dough and eventually made our very own gingerbread men. We ended our week with a hunt for the missing gingerbread men. The children even made traps to catch them. Eventually they were caught and enjoyed by all!
The Blue Room has been as busy as elves wrapping presents, decorating the Christmas tree and helping our room smell like Christmas by pushing cloves into oranges. Ummm, the smell is wonderful! Of course the train leaves daily and runs directly to the North Pole from SSP too. At spots for one person, the children also have been choosing to recreate the Nativity story or match cookies for Santa.
We’ve had lots of Christmas cutting!! One choice was to create a Christmas tree using a half a tree tracer and a folded piece of paper. So exciting to open the paper and see a full tree!! (We’re even learning what symmetry means.)
In the Yellow Room the children are sorting objects with either the “s” and “h” sound into a Santa “s”tocking and a “h”at based on the beginning sound of the object.
From all of us in the Five Day program, the warmest of Christmas cheer!
