Winter in TMO Wedesdays - Making Friends and Loving School!

In the Wednesday TMO class, we have been busy with lots of winter and Valentine activities.  The children marbled rolled Valentine hearts with paint and made a handprint Valentine card for their families.  The art center is becoming a favorite choice, and the children want to experiment with the various art mediums available.

All the children are now so comfortable with their classroom and love choosing an activity from the various centers.  Building towers with the peg board, playing “cook” in the kitchen and working puzzles are some of the more popular choices.

They are becoming more aware of their friends now and are even engaging in play with them.  It’s fun to see them start to interact with their friends and many are using their words.

The weather has been cooperative for our Wednesday mornings.  They children have been using their imagination in the sand area where they are cooking and making sand “cakes.”  Filling buckets with the big shovels is another favorite outside activity.

During circle, we have been singing songs such as “The Itsy Bitsy Spider”, The Wheels on the Bus”, and “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” just to name a few. Some of the children are now singing along with us!

Some of the books we have read this month are The Hat, Guess How Much I Love You, and Hop to the Top.  Keep reading to your children as this is the best way to enhance their vocabulary development.

As you have noticed Nada Golden has joined the class as the assistant teacher with our youngest Toddler Morning Out boys and girls.  When the new semester began, Alyssa’s classes for her nursing degree were rescheduled with one on Wednesday mornings. Deborah Streicker, who had worked temporarily in the fall to help with the children’s transition to school, stayed with the class through this transition as well.  The children now seem quite settled with the new staff.  We welcome Nada, and thank Deborah and Alyssa for their love and care.

Just a reminder that spring break is the week of March 7-14.  We hope you have a safe and relaxing break and look forward to seeing everyone when we return.

Thank you for sharing your little ones with us each Wednesday.

Christine and Nada
