The children loved watching the precious chicks and ducks emerge, eat, drink, grow and swim!!!
After, a week it was time to say good-bye to our friends. Be sure to ask your child about the names they gave to the chicks and ducks. The adorable ducks and chicks love their new home in the country with Alissa, Graham and Luca Prather.
A big thank you to Louise Moore (Pearl’s mom) for donating the eggs and advising in the egg project!!!
Not to worry, the 5-day is still a zoo! We welcomed five caterpillars to each room last week. They have been busy eating and growing into very large caterpillars. The caterpillars are making their chrysalises now. We are looking forward to watching the caterpillars transform into Painted Lady Butterflies. We have read the classic “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”, by Eric Carle, “Waiting for Wings” by Lois Ehlert and several non-fiction books about butterflies.
In the Yellow Room, the children are enjoying playing “The Very Hungry Caterpillar Game” and the flower beginning sound sort.
The children may also choose to make a life cycle of the butterfly book using pasta at the science table in the Yellow Room.
In the Blue Room, children can become butterflies.
In the Green Room, the students have been hard at work on a top secret project for Mother’s Day!
There will be butterfly fun in the Green Room, too! The children are busy making “Very Hungry Caterpillar” head bands and bead caterpillars to “crawl” in the tree in the corridor outside of the classrooms.
Be sure to add the dates of Spirit Night (May 12 at 5:30), the class picnics and the End of the Year program (May 26 at 11:00) to your May calendars. These are such wonderful family times!
