Spring is in the air in the TMO Wednesday class. For St. Patrick’s Day, the children painted shamrocks and for Easter, they had fun choosing which spring colors to use to paint their bunnies. The Easter sensory bin was filled with colored shredded paper and the children enjoyed finding the hidden ducks and eggs as well as pulling the paper out and putting it back in.
When the weather isn’t so great for outdoor time, we have been using our large muscles in the movement room.
In our book area, we have many books about springtime. Some of the ones we’ve been reading are, “Wake up, It’s Spring” by Lisa Ernst, “Little Cloud” by Eric Carle and “God Gave Us Easter” by Lisa Bergren
In the science area, we have spring flowers the children can smell, touch and look at closely with a magnifying glass. We have just added live caterpillars for observation. As we watch them change, we will be talking about the changes the caterpillars will go through to become butterflies. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle begins to make a lot of sense when the children can observe the real thing. The children will be engaging in many activities relating to this book over the next few weeks.
With only a few weeks to go this school year, we are so amazed at how much your children have grown and changed in so many ways. It has been so rewarding to see their growth. We are looking forward to spending these last few weeks with your children.
