The Orange Room (Toddler Morning Out - TMO) children are brought to the classroom by their parents and choose from the materials available in the classroom. At 9:30 a.m. they go outside, weather permitting, then return to the classroom for snack and more choice time. In addition to their daily routine, the children have Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, music and movement weekly in their classroom.
The children in the Purple Rooms meet on the playground daily by 9:00 a.m., weather permitting. At 9:30, they go to their classroom for circle time, choice time, snack, and more choice. They, too, have Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, music and movement.
The children in the Red Room participate in carpool. As they enter the classroom, the children make choices from a variety of carefully designed activities. They may engage alone or with one, two or a group of children as they experiment with and experience the materials set out for them. At some point during the morning they assemble as a group for circle. At 10:00 a.m. the children in the Red room go to the playground. Upon their return, they enjoy their snack as a group and once again have time to make choices in the classroom. They participate in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, music and movement in different spaces.
The children in the 5-Day Program, in the Aqua, Blue, Green and Yellow Rooms, also participate in carpool. Upon their arrival in their “home” classroom, they put away their belongings and have opening circle time. Once circle is over, the children are free to choose where they will begin work. Upon completion of each activity they choose, they clean their space, leaving it as they found it, and make another choice. By 9:45 a.m. the snack room opens and becomes one of their choices, and at 10:30 a.m. the playground is another option, giving the children as many as five areas in which to work. At the end of the day, children reassemble in their assigned classrooms for a closing circle discussion to wrap up the day. On varying days of the week, the 5-Day children have Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, music, and movement classes.
