The TMO Wednesday children are slowly adjusting to their new classroom and friends and are learning that St. Stephen’s really is a fun place to be. Although there are still tears when some are left, they are beginning to become more distracted with their friends and the activities going on in the classroom. Each week it gets better for them and we so much appreciate your quickly leaving as this helps them separate better. If your child has a favorite “comfort” item such as a blanket or stuffed animal please feel free to send it along. We have found that this really helps if a child needs a little extra support to help ease their separation from you.
The children have been busy exploring all the centers. Climbing and sliding on the soft tunnel climber has been a favorite activity for all. We also have been “cooking” in the kitchen and taking good care of the baby dolls.
In our art center, the children have been exploring with markers, crayons, and chalk. Now we are working with dot dot markers and paint to create pumpkins.
The children also love to be read to and we spend lots of time reading and talking to the children throughout the morning as this greatly enhances their language development. Keep reading aloud to your child at home as this is the best way to foster their developing language.
Thank you for entrusting your little ones with us on Wednesday morning. We will continue to work with you and your child during the separation process. We want to make this a smooth transition for everyone. If at any time you have questions or concerns, please call or email us. We are here to help in any way we can.
