Christmas is everywhere in the Red Room! The reading corner has a great selection of Christmas stories that the children are enjoying. The easel has Christmas colors for painting stockings and Christmas trees. The children are also decorating Christmas ornaments and painting Christmas trees with pine branches. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeers, wreathes, and stockings are hanging on the bulletin board. Our play dough is Christmas green and red and the cookie cutters are an assortment of Christmas shapes.
The children are loving making bracelets with Christmas colored beads and patterning while making candy cane ornaments. While there is much talk about Santa coming, we are also reminding the children the true meaning of Christmas. There are two nativity scenes with animals and characters that the children are playing with and acting out the story of Jesus’ birth. We have talked and read about the manger story and used finger puppets to share the story.
The children are so enjoying Christmas puzzles, counting games, and even painting Santa’s beard with shaving cream! The dramatic play area is decorated with a Christmas tree and the children love hanging, and rehanging the ornaments. The sensory box is full of rice with Christmas trees, houses, people, presents, and even Santa.
Santa’s Noisy Night, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, A Sleep in the Stable, The Ginger Bread Man, The Mouse’s Christmas, and Get Well Santa are just a few of the wonderful stories that we are reading! The children are enjoying Christmas music daily while they work, humming, and singing along, keeping us in the spirit!
Looking ahead, we will be having our Christmas class party on Thursday, December 17th at 10:50. Thank you in advance to the parents who have offered to volunteer. This is only for those parents who signed up to help to attend. Please be on the lookout for a special gift that the children have made you for Christmas. We will be sending them home with lots of Christmas work.
Finally, as the weather continues to get colder, please send your children with appropriate coats, hats, and mittens! We will continue to play outside even when it is cold! And don’t forget to send in warm clothes as an extra set to replace the fall clothes.
I hope that you all have a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday, January 5th!
