Now that spring is here, we have been focusing our activities around springtime and the Easter season. In the art area, the children chose which colors they wanted to paint their bunnies and they made colorful eggs using their choice of dot dot markers, crayons or markers.
In the coming weeks, we will be doing more art which will focus on spring such as birds, caterpillars and butterflies. We will be reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and we will even have live caterpillars which the children can observe and eventually see them transform into butterflies.
Another fun activity the children enjoyed was finding different size Easter eggs which were hidden in a box filled with packing peanuts. They enjoyed finding their eggs and as they found them we talked about what color their egg was and if it was a big or little egg.
Outside time continues to be a favorite part of our morning. We have been looking for signs of spring such as leaves coming on the trees and flowers blooming. The basketball hoop has been a favorite activity for many as well as climbing up the slide.
In our circle time, we have been singing songs such as “Twinkle, twinkle little star” and the “Itsy Bitsy Spider.” We also enjoy singing “Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed” using stuffed monkeys and a bed in which the children can let the monkeys “jump” on the bed.
Please remember to sign up for conferences on sign up genius if you haven’t already done so. Our conference day is Tuesday, April 21, so we can have class on Wednesday. We will meet in the room beside the TMO room. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child’s progress. As always, thank you for sharing your little ones with us.
