It has been a busy fall! The children are enjoying their time at school and happy to be with their friends.
Music with Dawn provides the children the chance to experiment with many types of musical instruments.
The sand table has been an area that draws the children. Here they can pour, measure and work together filling, sifting and emptying containers. It provides sensory stimulation which helps them to learn about their environment.
We have been preparing for Christmas by making decorations, using handprints, glitter paint and dot-dot markers. The children enjoy creating their works of art. We display them in and around the classroom so the children can see their own work and each others’. They like to point out their handiwork.
We have been talking about Christmas and have a small Christmas tree that the children can decorate. They have really enjoyed placing the ornaments on the tree and moving them around.
We also have a box with a Christmas tree design that the children decorate with Pom poms which they then push through the holes. It is a fine motor activity, using those small muscles in their hands.
We listen to the Vince Guaraldi Christmas CD ( A Charlie Brown Christmas) which sets the tone for the children to prepare for the Christmas holiday. We also have an animated Rudolph that the children love at circle time, Rudolph sings his song and some of the children attempt to sing along, but all have been fascinated by it.
We have so enjoyed the past few months! Your children have grown so much in such a short time and are learning something new every day.
We wish you and your family a most blessed Christmas and a happy New Year! We look forward to getting back together in 2017!
