Polar Bears and Pretend Play in TMO Th/F

During the month of February, the children have had so much fun with Valentine activities and sensory play.  In the art center, the children painted hearts on the easel, marble rolled hearts with paint and made a Valentine handprint card for their families.

We read the book Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear? and made our own polar bears by gluing cotton balls onto a construction paper polar bear.

Another favorite book we have been reading is Hop to the Top.  This is a story of a penguin named Rocky who wants to hop to the top of a tall mountain.  The children made their own penguin puppets and acted out the story by having their Rocky hop to the top of the mountain.

The kinetic sand is a great sensory experience for the children.  They have really used their imagination by making snowmen, snowballs and filling dump trucks with this sand.  They have also had the opportunity to explore with play dough where they have used cookie cutters to cut out different shapes as well as make a train track for the play dough train to travel on.   What imaginative minds are at work!

The dramatic play area has been a busy center.  Feeding and caring for baby dolls, driving and riding on the school bus, and dressing up have been some favorite activities.

Reading is another activity that the children really enjoy.  They are always eager to come to circle to see what book we will be reading.  Sometimes, they like to read on their own and pull a book off the shelf and have their own story time.

During the month of March, we will be talking about Easter and spring and have some engaging activities planned.

Just a reminder that Spring break will be the week of March 7-14.  We hope everyone has a safe and relaxing break and we look forward to seeing everyone when we return.

As always, thank you for entrusting your little ones with us.
